Somerset County Council has launched an urgent appeal calling on residents and job seekers to fill social care vacancies in the midst of a national staffing crisis.

The campaign, which launched on Monday 4th October 2021 has been supported by Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis, who praised Somerset’s dedicated care workforce, describing them as “absolutely brilliant people”.

The urgent appeal is asking for Somerset residents and communities to step in and fill social care vacancies – either in the short-term or longer-term – as these unprecedented times are putting severe pressure on the local health and social care system.
