Upcoming campaigns

#SomersetMyHappyPlace Campaign for Mental Health Awareness Week
As part of Mental Health Awareness Week Public Health organised the #SomersetMyHappyPlace social media campaign, lots of people submitted photos of places they go in Somerset which help them to feel calmer and happier. These have now been plotted onto a digital map which is available here: Somerset Happy Places – Google My Maps

Updated ‘Looking After Yourself’ Post Incident Leaflet
We have updated the ‘Looking After Yourself’ leaflet to support those that have been impacted by flooding. View the new version here.

Suicide – Language Guide
We have created a new ‘Suicide – Language Matters’ poster - this document provides information and guidance around the use of language when talking about suicide. The language we use can impact those who have been touched by suicide and by using different language we can help to reduce the stigma surrounding suicide.

The Orange Button Scheme
We are close to having 900 Orange Button holders in Somerset. Please continue to promote the scheme within your networks to help to raise awareness of it. We have new posters to advertise the scheme. Download them here.

The NHS and Social Care Coronavirus Life Assurance Scheme

This scheme provides financial support to families and dependents of eligible health and social care staff who sadly died from Covid-19 contracted while delivering frontline care during the pandemic. The scheme pays a tax-free lump sum of £60,000 to the deceased’s appropriate person, regardless of their salary. Full details of the scheme and the claim form are available here: NHS and Social Care Coronavirus Life Assurance Scheme 2020 England | NHSBSA

The content has been designed alongside colleagues working in Learning Disability Social Care, and will be delivered by local training partner Optimise.
The topics which are covered by the training are:
  • How dementia presents in individuals with Learning Disabilities
  • Suicidal behaviour in individuals with Learning Disabilities
  • Dual-diagnosis of mental illnesses and Learning Disabilities
  • Borderline Personality Disorder
  • Positive behavioural strategies
  • Schizophrenia
All sessions run 10am-5pm and are free to attend, but please bring your own lunch.

When booking, please select a first and second choice date and contact jean.painter@nhs.net who will reserve your place.

The dates and venues are:
10th & 24th July at Wynford House, Yeovil (free parking available on site)

Free Online Event - Going Digital Myth-Busting with DiSC and RCPA - July 6th

RCPA are pleased to announce that we will be holding a free online event alongside the DiSC team (Digitalisation of Social Care team) on Thursday 6th July at 1.30pm.

There are many digital products and services available to your organisation and it can be hard to know which ones to focus on and how they will benefit your organisation, your staff and clients.

We will be hosting a workshop to answer any questions you may have around adopting digital technologies and services, along with helping you stay safe in the digital world using the DSPT (Data Security & Protection Toolkit). There are currently funding opportunities available to assist your organisation in going digital and this will also be discussed at the event.

To register for this event please follow this link - DiSC and RCPA - Going Digital Myth-busting & FAQ

If you have any queries please contact daniel.plummer@rcpa.org.uk
