Payment issue

Somerset Council is going through a period of transformation as we have come together to form one new unitary authority.

Part of the transformation is implementing a new Microsoft Dynamics finance system. We have had a system technical issue with a payment made on the 24th May 2023.

The payment to providers was a duplicate of the period 1 payment. A payment is due for period 2 on Tuesday 30th May (delayed due to bank holiday). We are working on a rectification so that the payment you will receive on the 30th May will be the difference between the duplicate payment made on the 22nd May and the period 2 payment. The payment received on the 24th May, may include other invoices processed in May. A remittance advice will be sent detailing the payment due for period 2.

If you were not expecting a payment for period 2, a credit note will be issued on our system.

We apologise for any confusion this may have caused and thank you for your patience while we resolve this issue.

Dysphagia Protocol Trial

The Adult Speech and Language Therapy Service are working on developing a care home protocol/checklist for residents who show signs or symptoms of dysphagia. The aim of this is to support care staff with managing dysphagia and when to refer to our service.

We are looking for care homes who may be interested in trialling this protocol and working with us on its development and possible other resources to support you.

If your care home would be interested please contact Olivia Blunn (Pathway Lead SLT for Dementia and Care Homes) on Olivia.Blunn@SomersetFT.nhs.uk

Events

Making a Difference in Dementia Care Event

The Lived Experience team are running themed events throughout 2023 to demonstrate the impact and difference made by people, local communities and organisations working together. The purpose of the event is to reach people living with dementia, their carers and people with an interest in dementia to learn more about some of the work that is currently taking place to improve lives, as well as the role that people with lived experience can play in shaping and influencing services.

The next event will be on Dementia Care on Wednesday 31st May 1pm-2.30pm on Microsoft Teams.

The event will focus on new initiatives in the field, in addition to hearing from people with lived experience and how they’ve influenced positive change.

The event welcomes anyone to join who has lived experience, is a carer, or is working in local communities and the health and care system.
