Mouth Care in Care Homes:

South West Survey

Please complete this survey, which closes 27th May:
Mouth Care in Care Homes: South West Survey
mouth-survey-qr
Good oral health plays an important part in maintaining care home residents’ dignity and comfort. Following on from the CQC ‘Smiling Matters: oral health in care homes’ report, resources and training programmes to support care homes with the implementation of mouth care for their residents have been developed.

It is understood that different care homes across the region are at different stages regarding accessing support for mouth care training . The aim of this survey is to help those looking for extra support to access appropriate resources and training.

By filling out this survey you will help the Enhanced Health in Care Homes team to understand current practices in mouth care within your care home. This will illustrate where more help may be needed and help make recommendations to your local Health and Social Care support team which provides mouth care training and support.

#DementiaActionWeek

16 – 22 May

This week saw the launch of Dementia Action Week, a national campaign to raise awareness about dementia.

This week, we announced our Ambitious plans to transform dementia services in Somerset, working with you to redesign nursing and residential homes, and investing in new technologies and services which help people remain living independently in their own homes.

Our latest public health film focused on dementia, showcasing the work of Wellington-based dementia charity, Reminiscence Learning.

We've also been sharing lots of dementia related content on Twitter and Facebook.

There are still a couple of days remaining on the campaign if you want to get involved, and you can find media resources on the Alzheimer’s society website – such as email signatures, Facebook images, and twitter images.

Reminder: Pharmacy services survey

We are looking for your views to make sure that community pharmacies in Somerset are providing the right services for local people. Health and Wellbeing Boards are required - every three years - to make sure that communities have equal access to pharmacy services in their areas. This is called a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) – a draft PNA has been published at www.somersetintelligence.org.uk/pna.html

As part of the process, we’re running a consultation from Wednesday 27 April until Saturday 25 June. You can complete the online survey here. The survey is primarily aimed at stakeholders such as neighbouring Health and Wellbeing Boards, but we welcome comments from anyone so please share widely with your contacts.
