Dear Care Provider Colleagues,

Welcome to this week's briefing.

This week in the briefing: information about driving tests for critical workers, a PPE Update, an update regarding the ShinyMind Wellbeing App, news from the Small Business Awards, an invitation to surveys on Digitisation in Social Care and the Capacity Tracker Form, an invitation to Mouth Care Matters Webinar, as well as the usual event reminders.

Don’t forget you can now access all latest news, information and events
via our provider-facing website: somersetprovidernetwork.org.uk

Please find the latest news and updates from Adult Social Care below:

Driving Tests for Critical Workers

We are aware that there are significant backlogs/wait lists for driving tests currently. We wanted to ensure that care providers are aware of that, as a critical worker, they are eligible for emergency driving tests - Emergency driving tests for critical workers - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

We are also conscious that many providers have looked at overseas recruitment and that staff are permitted to use their overseas driving licences for up to 1 year. To ensure that they are still able to work (a requirement of visas), we actively encourage homecare providers to be as proactive in possible in mitigating potential risks here to your workforce/staffing.

PPE Update

https://www.supplychain.nhs.uk/resilience/ppe-transition/

The provision of COVID-19 PPE will continue to be free of charge until 31 March 2024 or until stocks are depleted (whichever is sooner). It will also continue to be delivered by GXO (formally Clipper Logistics) and be supplied through the auto replenishment model for NHS trusts, and available to order via the dedicated PPE Portal for eligible primary care and adult social care providers.

    ShinyMind Wellbeing App

Unfortunately we have come to the end of our contract with the ShinyMind App and you will no longer have access after today, Friday 31st March. Apologies for the very late notice.

You won’t receive any communication from ShinyMind from this date as you won’t be able to log in to your app any longer.

We appreciate this may be difficult for some people, but please be reassured that we are working on alternative free Wellbeing Apps as a replacement for you. Unfortunately due to governance procedures that have to be followed we are not able to link you to the alternative free apps until after 5th April.

Access to the app has already been kindly extended by ShinyMind for some months but we are now in the position of being unable to extend any further due to costs.

We will be in touch again after 5th April, and thank you in advance for your patience.
